How to order a curry night in Lincoln

A curry night is one of the easiest ways to feed a crowd, and one of the easiest to over-order. Here is how to get it right, whether you are ordering for two or for the whole family, from Namaste Gurkha in Birchwood, Lincoln.

How much should I order?

• One main per person, plus one or two extra dishes to share if you are hungry.
• One rice per person, or a rice and a naan between two.
• A side dish for every two or three people: a dal, Bombay aloo or saag aloo goes with everything.
• Starters and papadums to share while the table settles in.

Set meals take the guesswork out

Our set meals are designed to be complete:

• Set Meal for 1 (£16.95): onion bhaji, a chicken or lamb curry of your choice, Bombay aloo, plain naan or plain rice, and a papadum with mint or mango chutney.
• Set Meal for 2 (£32.95): meat samosa, onion bhaji, chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, Bombay aloo, plain rice, a plain naan and two papadums with two chutneys.
• Set Meal for 4 (£66.95): onion bhaji, meat samosa, chicken tikka, seekh kebab, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, prawn curry, lamb bhuna, Bombay aloo, mushroom bhaji, two plain rice, two plain naans and four papadums with a chutney tray.

Mix the heat

For a group, choose at least one mild dish such as korma or tikka masala, one medium such as bhuna or rogan josh, and one hot dish for the chilli lovers. Our curry heat guide ranks the whole menu.

Add something Nepalese

Ordered too much? Curry often tastes even better the next day. Cool leftovers quickly, cover them and put them in the fridge, then reheat until piping hot all the way through. Rice needs extra care: the Food Standards Agency advises cooling rice within an hour, keeping it in the fridge for no more than a day and reheating it only once.
